2026 Self Sufficiency Series

Rusk County Farmers Market, Indianhead Community Action Agency, and Rusk County Community Library are teaming up to bring you a series about how to preserve your food! Join us for hands-on learning about subjects such as freezing, fermenting, canning, and dehydrating. Take home samples from each session. 

All of the workshops are FREE to attend and participate!

Classes are located at Indianhead Action Agency: 100 College Ave W. Ladysmith, WI. Please park on west side of building and use west entrance.

All workshops are from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. 

May 17: Dehydrating: The basics of dehydrating herbs for long term storage and use.  

June 21: Freezing: Meal planning with freezing and packing meals for future use. 

July 19: Water Bath Canning: making favorite jams and jellies. 

August16: Pressure Canning: Green Beans

September 20: Fermenting: Sauerkraut Demonstration

2026 Community Garden Education

Monthly hands-on learning evenings open to all. These are a great way to build skills, share knowledge, and enjoy time together outdoors. 

 

Held the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 6:00-8:00 pm

July 21: Solar Dehydrator Workshop

 

August 18: Foraging basics and local wild edibles

 

September 15: Seed saving for future gardens
